Whether it’s a routine check-up, an immunization visit or specialty care for the most serious medical conditions, you can count on primary care doctors at University Children’s Health to provide excellent care for your child. Our teams include board-certified pediatricians, specialists and family practice physicians who provide treatment at locations across San Antonio.
We’re here to keep your child healthy and deliver preventative care through every age and stage of their development. Our pediatricians provide healthcare for newborns up through the age of 17. In addition to treating injuries, we also identify and diagnose acute and chronic illnesses.
It’s important that you bring your child in for annual exams every year starting at the age of three. We provide vision screenings for children starting at age three and hearing screenings starting at age four.
Developmental screenings are also given. Your child is checked to see if they’re doing well in five different areas: communications, gross and fine motor skills, problem solving and personal interactions. If there’s a problem, we’ll recommend occupational, physical or speech therapy to help your child get back on track.
When you have a primary care physician who knows your child well, it makes a difference. All the medical information and records are sent back to one central person, usually your child’s pediatrician. This leads to better awareness of your child’s overall health condition and contributes to a more unified, successful care plan.
For your convenience, Children’s Health keeps your child’s health history in a secure electronic medical record. No matter what location within our system you go to, our providers have immediate access to this important information. It gives your child’s doctor a detailed view of test results, exams and assessments.
