Diabetes in San Antonio

The number of people with prediabetes and diabetes is growing at a fast rate in Texas and Bexar County. The most recent figures show that more than 14% of Bexar County residents have diabetes. This percentage is higher than the state average of 10.6% and higher than the national average of 9.3%.

Community Diabetes Prevention

The Texas Diabetes Institute assists people in San Antonio and communities throughout south Texas and beyond with diabetes and related health problems.

Community Garden

Partnering with the San Antonio Food Bank in 2016, the Texas Diabetes Institute restored its community garden to produce foods for healthy cooking demonstrations.
