About the Artwork
De Carvalho’s "Mother Birds" displays Texas indigenous natural symbols: native flora and fauna including almond verbena plants, wild poinsettias and the Mexican violetear hummingbird. The specificity of these references encourages viewers to consider the growth and potential of our community, drawing a connection between past and present through the timeless beauty of nature.
