Rehabilitation Treatment for Children

We provide rehabilitative therapy for children of all ages. Various forms of physical therapy are needed to treat conditions caused by genetic or neurological disorders. Orthopedic rehab helps children with conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system which includes muscles, cartilage, bones, tendons, ligaments and joints.

We also provide extensive speech therapy for children treating conditions such as:

  • Apraxia
  • Dysarthria
  • Stuttering
  • Aphasia
  • Other speech disorders and language delays

Our pediatric physical therapists provide therapeutic treatments over a period of weeks and months. With repeated and consistent therapy, movements become easier and less restricted. Specific exercises and functional training for children can relieve pain and improve overall balance and strength.

We provide speech therapy for those who have language delays, articulation problems, those who stutter and brain injury patients. Many scenarios call for strengthening of the muscles of the mouth, face and respiratory system.

Comprehensive Swallow Studies

Our in-depth swallow studies help children swallow properly to digest food. If you don’t know the cause of your child’s condition, we can help determine if it’s an anatomical problem, an aversion to certain foods or weak muscles in the mouth and throat.

Serial Casting for Children

Reeves Rehabilitation Center is one of only a few facilities in the region that offer serial casting to stretch muscles in an arm or leg that needs to be corrected. It helps to correct toe walking and spasticity conditions. It helps children with extra tight muscles, it can help increase muscle tone or assist in allowing for increased range of motion. A cast is usually worn for a week at a time, removed and a new one applied until the desired result is reached.

Our physical therapists, speech language pathologists, brain injury certified therapists and other highly trained team members provide comprehensive rehabilitation therapy for children who need support for orthopedic, post-surgical, mobility, neurological and numerous other pediatric medical conditions.

Our rehabilitation therapies for children include:

  • Serial casting
  • Splinting for burns
  • Orthopedic splinting
  • Orthotic and prosthetic training
  • Swallowing assessment and therapy
  • TheraSuit® Method
