Newborn Care

Specialized Care for Newborns

New moms and dads want the highest quality care for the youngest member of their family. At University Health, we have doctors, nurses and specialists ready to meet every need you and your new baby may have.

University Hospital is a certified Baby-Friendly facility. This designation recognizes our commitment to the mothers and newborns we care for.

What to Expect After Childbirth

After labor and delivery, you will be able to “room in” with your baby in a private postpartum room to begin strengthening the parent-baby bond.

We encourage you to breastfeed your baby. Our nurses will help you get started and guide you toward success in the coming days.

Newborn Care Basics

Before you leave the hospital, our doctors and nurses will make sure you feel confident providing basic newborn care. You’ll feel comfortable with:
