When your child is diagnosed with a congenital heart disease, you may be shocked, scared, and unsure of what the future holds. At University Children’s Health Heart Center, we understand the challenges you may be facing, and that’s why we’ve created an entire care philosophy with your best interests at heart.
We believe that children, as well as their families, are our patients and we recognize how important it is that family members receive the emotional support, attentive care and logistical help that they need. Our entire team is focused on obtaining the best results and outcomes for our patients, while keeping the family informed, comfortable and educated.
Our specialists will help you minimize and navigate through the psychosocial stressors of your child’s hospitalization. By using positive distractions, we make the hospital more fun for our patients, which can reduce the stress that you and your child may be experiencing.
The Complex Care Coordinator is your family’s best friend during your child’s hospital stay. The Coordinator assigned to your family will ensure a smooth transition during hospitalization, will help you through the discharge process, and will be there for you as your family readjusts to normal life.
In addition to the 18 inpatient rooms where family members can stay with their child during their hospitalization, the Heart Center also includes a kitchen with laundry facilities, a lounge and a library. For families that must stay for extended periods of time, the Heart Center offers 4 hotel-like rooms for added comfort.
People come to University Children’s Health Heart Center from all over the U.S and around the world. If you speak a language other than English, or are hearing impaired, we will happily provide you the assistance you need.
