Eighth time on list, which recognizes use of technology by healthcare systems
University Health System has again been named one of the nation’s Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems. It is the eighth time the Health System has been included on the list, which is based on the Most Wired Survey by Hospitals & Health Networks magazine.
“We’re proud to again be included on the list of Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems,” said George B. Hernández Jr., president and CEO of University Health System. “Our goal in the selection of new technology is to take better, safer care of our patients, as efficiently as possible. Our continued place on this prestigious list is a validation of that approach.”
With its UHS app, myUHS patient portal and other online tools, University Health System joins other Most Wired hospitals and health systems in using technology to build patient engagement with the user’s lifestyle in mind, which includes electronic access to the care team.
“Hospitals are breaking out of their traditional four walls and providing care where and when patients need it,” said Rick Pollack, president and CEO of the American Hospital Association. “These Most Wired hospitals exemplify this transformation by harnessing technology, engaging patients and offering services remotely.”
Health Care’s Most Wired Survey, conducted between Jan. 15 and March 15, is published annually by Health & Hospitals Networks. The survey of 680 participants represents an estimated 2,146 hospitals, or more than 34 percent of U.S. hospitals. The survey examines how organizations are leveraging IT to improve performance for value-based healthcare in the areas of infrastructure, business and administrative management; quality and safety; and clinical integration.
