COVID-19 Testing for University Hospital Patients

COVID-19 Testing for University Hospital Patients

If you experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, the first thing to do is call your primary care doctor right away. Your doctor will discuss your situation and help determine if you should get tested for COVID-19 and where to get tested.

If you do not have health insurance, our community can access free COVID-19 testing, but only if you are experiencing symptoms. Some private urgent care centers and physician offices offer fee-based testing for people who think they may have been exposed, which is determined by each location.

The City of San Antonio maintains a list of both free and fee-based testing sites in the San Antonio area.

University Health does not have a COVID-19 testing facility. Tests are only administered to those admitted to the hospital or with symptoms so severe they need immediate medical attention. If you are concerned you might have COVID-19, contact your primary care physician to schedule a telehealth appointment.
