Medical Assistant - Adult Detention - Bexar County Jail

Position Summary/Responsibilities:

Verifies patient information by interviewing inmates, recording their medical history, and confirming the purpose of their visit. Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary. Must be able to work either the Day or Night Shift. 

This position is located at the Bexar County Jail. The MA must be able to communicate confidently and professionally and comfortable working with inmates.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited school or certification from an approved credentialing body for medical assistants is required
  • National certification as a registered Medical Assistant is preferred
  • Must have current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Card
  • One-year experience in a clinic, doctor's office or ambulatory care setting is preferred
  • Must successfully complete the Patient Services Cashier course and be designated as a Patient Services Cashier during the initial probationary period

Hemodialysis Tech

Position Summary/Responsibilities:

The primary individual who provides chronic hemodialysis treatments to the patients under the direct supervision of the charge nurse.

Social Worker- Clinical Specialist

Position Summary/Responsibilities:

Provides professional level skills required in clinical social work, affording direct and indirect services to clients in health settings and working with a multidisciplinary team in evaluation and treatment planning for individuals, families and groups in the outpatient setting.

Primary responsibility is identifying and navigating of patients with opioid and substance abuse disorders. Offers a broad spectrum of mental health services to clients with a multiplicity of needs. Serves as a role model for other staff, establishing priorities for self and peers, ensuring that services are rendered in a prompt, efficient and effective manner.

Education/Experience:

  • A Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited school.
  • Three year's current experience in social work focusing on substance abuse disorders and demonstrated level of clinical social work skills indicative of ability to engage in self-regulated practice are required.

Licensure:

State licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners is required.

Certified Cytotechnologist

Position Summary/Responsibilities:

Accurately processes all cytological specimens and performs the final microscopic diagnosis for gynecologic cell samples that are within normal limits and performs the preliminary microscopic diagnosis for abnormal gynecologic and all non-gynecologic cell samples. Periodically supervises work of trainees and other supportive technical/clerical personnel employed in the laboratory. Rapidly and accurately performs assigned duties. Meets work deadlines of department and maintains the highest possible quality standards and up-to-date cytological procedures. Accountable for the final diagnosis of all negative gynecologic cases and the preliminary diagnosis of abnormal gynecological and all non-gynecologic cases. Accountable for proper identification and correction of unexpected as well as frequently occurring problems and for accurately identifying specimens with correct patient.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science is required.
  • Cytotechnology Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) is required.
