Charge Review Analyst

Position Summary/Responsibilities:

The Charge Review Analyst is responsible for monitoring charge capture across all clinical charging services lines at University Health, serving as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for assigned clinical charging departments. The Charge Analyst performs and assists with activities related to department rounding, workflow review, education/training, issue identification, root cause analysis, and system updates needed for complete and accurate clinical department charge entry and ensures department charge review and reconciliation is performed on a daily basis.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Healthcare is required.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience with hospital Revenue Integrity, Charge Capture, Nurse Audit, Denials, and/or Clinical Documentation Improvement required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding required.
  • Experience working within the Epic hospital information systems environment required.
  • Experience with PC applications such as MS Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, Word, Access), Med Assets, Hospital Information Systems (Epic, 3M) required.

Coding Director

Position Summary/Responsibilities:

The Director of Coding oversees the managers of inpatient, outpatient, and UMA coding, as well as the manager of the team responsible for working system generated coding related edits. The Director is responsible for the success of these teams, to include - timely and accurate coding, timely and complete resolution of edits in work queues, applicable education and training, and other coding related tasks. The Director is expected to maintain expert knowledge of all coding and classification systems used in health care (ICD-10CM, PCS, CPT, DRG, APC, and ASC), and to understand the impact of key coding information on reimbursement and statistical reporting systems.

Education/Experience:

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an approved program for Health Information Management or a related field is preferred.
  • Five to ten years of experience managing/supervising health information management processes, coding and or billing functions in a medical facility is required.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and applicable licensure regulations are required.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience with hospital Revenue Integrity, Charge Capture, Nurse Audit, Denials, and/or Clinical Documentation Improvement required.
  • In addition to preferred Epic certification, coding certification from one of the following credentialing bodies is required: American Academy of Professional Coders, American Health Information Management Association, and National Association for Health Professions: (AAPC, AHIMA, or NAHP).

Nurse Case Manager

The coding Manager directly supervises the coding staff to include, Outpatient and Inpatient Coders, Coding Educators, unbilled and denials clerks. Maintains expert knowledge of all coding and classification systems used in health care (ICD-10CM, PCS, CPT, DRG, APC, and ASC) key information that impacts reimbursement and statistical reporting systems, and the clinical information requirements of both accreditation and licensing agencies.   • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree from an approved program for Health Information Management or a related field is preferred.
  • Two to five years of experience managing/supervising health information management processes, coding and or billing functions in a medical facility is required.
  • Expert knowledge of Joint Commission standards and applicable licensure regulations are required.
  • Certification from one of the following credentialing bodies is acceptable: American Academy of Professional Coders, American Health Information Management Association, National Association for Health Professions: (AAPC, AHIMA, or NAHP).
