    A trauma team responds to a mass casualty and works to prevent others
    The Uvalde school shooting was not the first mass casualty shooting for the University Health trauma team. They treated victims wounded in the Sutherland Springs shooting in 2017. That first experience led to programs aimed at improving the survival of those severely injured. The team is also reaching out to gun owners and those who don’t have guns with recommendations that could reduce firearm injuries.
