Inpatient obstetrics

The birth of your baby is a very special time. The staff at University Hospital is committed to providing attentive and excellent care every step of the way. All inpatient obstetrics rooms are private suites, equipped with every convenience including a built-in couch for a family member to stay overnight.

Our goal is to provide a holistic care environment. Patients have access to the hospital chaplain, social workers, financial aid assistance and licensed counselors. Newborn services nurses and lactation consultants are also available to work closely with helping new mothers care for their babies.

Our supportive OB/GYN, pediatric and family medicine physicians are available to our patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our nurses are highly qualified in the obstetrics area, and the majority of the nurses have over 10 years experience in high-risk obstetrics.

In addition, many of our nurses have national certifications for inpatient obstetrics, advanced fetal monitoring, childbirth education, lactation consultation, grief counseling and medical surgical nursing. In order to better serve our patients, we are committed to keeping up with the latest trends in obstetric nursing.
