Floater The needs of the hospital vary from day to day. These volunteers are on standby and can be sent to one particular department or several different departments each visit. This person may find themselves in an office setting or on a patient floor. Duties performed usually include, but are not limited to, filing, answering the phones, making copies and creating packets or special projects.
Foster Grandparent Program These individuals are 55 years and older. They assist the nursing staff in caring for the babies. This position requires a special person who can provide comfort and gentleness.
Patient Floors Assist nursing staff with clerical tasks; filing, assembling packets, delivering food trays and running errands.
Patient Relations Conduct patient satisfaction and telephone surveys.
Pediatrics Assist nursing staff with patients in the playroom.
Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) These individuals are 60 years and older. They use their knowledge from their respective career fields to assist with special assignments, logistics, and much more.
Spiritual Care The role of this volunteer is to offer comfort and consolation to patients and their families.
Virtual Volunteers/Specialty Groups Participate in activities such as scrapbooking, quilting and sewing projects, and neighborhood magazine drives to benefit patients.
Volunteer Ambassadors Provide assistance with way-finding and answering questions at the information desk. This person must possess exceptional people skills and because you will be one of the first people customers will encounter, you must be willing to present yourself as "the face" of University Health System.
Therapy Animals Therapy animals and their owners visit the Pediatrics patients, promoting health and healing through the human-animal bond.
