Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Will this test hurt?

  • No. It is non-invasive-no needles and no pain. You will be quite comfortable during the test.

Will I be able to drive myself home?

  • Yes

Do I need to go without eating before the test?

  • Only if you are having a test done on your abdomen. Otherwise you may eat as usual. You will be told not to eat if that is necessary.

How long will it take?

  • 30-60 minutes for most of the tests. Tests performed on the abdomen take up to two hours.

Can someone be with me in the exam room?

  • Yes. We encourage it. They will find it interesting.

Why are you doing this test?

  • To help the doctors decide what is causing your problem and what might be done to help it.

What is ultrasound?

  • A non-invasive technique for evaluating blood flow and the tissues that surround it. Ultrasound is the same thing they use to see unborn babies. Doppler ultrasound is very similar to sonar or radar.
