University Hospital is home to San Antonio's first and largest Level I Trauma Center. As the lead trauma facility for a 22-county area of Texas, the trauma team provides comprehensive care to many of the most critically-injured patients from Bexar County, South Texas and beyond.

In partnership with The UT Health Science Center (UTHSC), highly-trained trauma surgeons and surgical residents staff the trauma center 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. These dedicated physicians, partnered with the highly-skilled and compassionate emergency center nurses and medical technicians, are responsible for saving lives and improving outcomes. But the emergency center at University Hospital is just the first of many steps along a continuum of Comprehensive Trauma Care.
