Real Life Trauma at University Hospital

Big teams saving little lives

On June 6, 2002 AirLife transported five critically injured children to the University Hospital trauma center after a passenger van crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler in rush hour traffic.

The goal: To get them healthy and get them home

  • Two of the children were released the following day.
  • Two more went home the following week.
  • Eight-year-old Joey was the most critical. He was released from University Hospital on July 5.

Trauma can happen to anyone, any where

College student Julie Beasley was in a Kerr County field doing research in March 2001 when she was shot by a fugitive on the run from authorities.

She was taken by AirLife to University Hospital in extremely critical condition.
