Pediatric Kidney Transplant Services
The Children's Kidney Center staff know that caring for children with kidney disease takes a lot more than dialysis; it takes the love and care of health care professionals and family members alike. Caring for children with kidney disease requires a special approach. Our staff helps pediatric renal patients and their parents understand how demanding treatment and maintenance for this condition can be.
The Children's Kidney Center enables pediatric patients and their families to adjust to life with kidney disease. The center provides an atmosphere conducive to flexibility and the opportunity to explore all the options provided by a specialized renal team that includes pediatric nephrologists, a dietitian, nurses, child life coordinators, and a social worker.
The Children's Kidney Center opened in 1992. Its staff has completed more than 80 pediatric transplants for patients ranging from 12 months to 21 years old. Our smallest patient who received a kidney transplant weighed just over 13 pounds.
