"Talk it Up: teens helping teens" is a school-based, peer facilitator curriculum for adolescents. This program can be implemented in any school or a community based organization, e.g. a church, a mosque, a temple or a community center and initiated by any concerned staff, parent or student.
We found through research with teens in Bexar County, that when depressed those teens sought out their peers for advice before anyone else. Accordingly, a curriculum was developed to train adolescents how to:
- recognize depression in their peers
- approach a depressed teen
- get them help from an adult.
We can provide materials and expertise on implementing and developing the program in your organization. Please contact Farzana Khattak at farzana.khattak@uhs-sa.com or call 210-358-9821.
