A traumatic injury often creates tremendous fear and anxiety for patients and their loved ones. At University Hospital’s Level I Trauma Center, we believe complete care means so much more than just treating your illness or injury. It also means anticipating and meeting the needs of the people within your support system. It means providing reassurance and, if possible, even relaxation for those gathered to help you recover.

University trauma social workers are important resources to families of our adult and pediatric trauma patients. Our staff members are always here and happy to serve. Please let us know if we can:

  • Answer questions about our facility
  • Give you directions
  • Offer advice on area hotel rooms
  • Connect you to transportation options
  • Provide contacts for medical equipment or insurance information

We always welcome family members to stay close to you during your recovery, whether that’s in the hospital or around the corner. Our goal is to make your support team as comfortable as possible and their stay as convenient as possible. We have compiled helpful information about the hospital and the surrounding area.

Visiting & Hospital Access

We always welcome family members to stay with you as you recover. For the safety of our patients, visitors and employees, however, we do limit access to University Hospital at certain times each day. The main entrance is closed during these times:

  • Monday through Friday, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Saturday, 3 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Sunday, 1 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Please enter or exit the hospital through the Emergency Department during these times.

Patient & Visitor Parking

Patient and visitor parking is available in the North parking garage and in two surface-level lots. If you require special parking conditions for an oversized vehicle or plan to stay many days or weeks, let us know. Contact our Trauma Social Work Department at 210-743-2861 for a multiday parking pass at a fixed price.

Free Wi-Fi Access

We offer free Wi-Fi to all patients and visitors. Here’s how to connect:

  1. Select "attwifi" in your network connections.
  2. A "welcome" page will pop up.
  3. Accept the Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.
  4. Click to connect to Wi-Fi.
