Neonatal Pediatric Transport Teams

University Hospital’s Pediatric Transport Team serves children throughout San Antonio and South Central Texas and beyond.

Our team features registered nurses and registered respiratory therapists who are highly experienced in pediatric critical care and certified in BLS, PALS, ACLS, NRP and TNCC. Our team is available for transport of pediatric patients from hospitals, clinics and emergency departments. Because details matter, we utilize the mode of transport that will best meet the specific needs of the patient, whether by ground ambulance, helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft.

Our team remains in contact with pediatric physicians at University Hospital throughout the transport, and also follows pediatric specific protocols to ensure the best and most appropriate care is delivered. We are committed to delivering quality care that is compassionate, professional and family-centered.

Research shows that pediatric patients transported by pediatric specialty teams have fewer unplanned events during transport, including the reduced likelihood of airway events, cardiopulmonary arrest, loss of IV access and sustained hypotension and/or hypoxia without intervention. For these reasons, when you need us, we’ll be there. It’s just another way University Hospital remains committed to the needs of the patients and communities we serve.
