Nicolas E. Walsh, M.D., Chairman, Rehabilitation Medicine Services
Nicolas E. Walsh, M.D., is Chairman and Professor with tenure of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He was recently appointed President of the Medical-Dental Staff of University Health System for 2009-2010. Dr. Walsh is a member of the International Steering Committee of the Bone and Joint Decade: 2000-2010, a member of the International Society of PM&R, and author of many journals and book chapters. Dr. Walsh has served as Chairman of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, President of the Association of Academic Physiatrists, and as a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners. In addition, he served on many organizations and boards in the fields of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as Pain Medicine. Dr. Walsh is a graduate of the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, Colorado, and completed his residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. He is Board Certified in both Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine. He is a frequently invited lecturer at various professional meetings worldwide. He also serves as the Principal Investigator on several research projects at the University and VA.


John C. King, M.D., Reeves Rehabilitation Center Medical Director, Inpatient unit
John C. King, M.D. is Medical Director of Reeves Rehabilitation Center and serves as a Professor with tenure with the Dept of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He received his residency training with Baylor Affiliated Hospitals in Houston, serving as Chief Resident in his final year there and was selected to receive their Distinguished Alumnus Award from Baylor College of Medicine for contributions to the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2000. Dr. King has been annually selected to the Best Doctors national listing for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physicians. He is a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, a fellow of the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians, the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is currently President of the Association of Academic Physiatrists. Dr. King is certified in Electrodiagnostic Medicine by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine and Spinal Cord Injury Medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. In 2007 he was presented with the Distinguished Clinician Award of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is active in various community projects, is a frequently-invited lecturer, and is on the editorial boards of the American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Journal of Musculoskeletal Pain. His current research interests include applied clinical teaching, neurophysiology, electrical stimulation, neurogenic bowel and chronic pain management.
