Bioness Foot Drop System

E-mail

Following a stroke or brain injury, returning to normal walking is a high priority for most people. Reeves Rehabilitation Center is one of only a few facilities that offer a BIONESS Foot-Drop Stimulator. The stimulator assists in reducing foot drop by retraining foot and ankle muscles that help with walking.

Bioness Training is:

  • Designed to assist with "foot drop" that often occurs in diagnoses such as Stroke, Brain Injury, Incomplete Spinal cord injury, Multiple Sclerosis, and Cerebral Palsy
  • A program designed to address the issue of foot drop which often limits a person's ability to advance their leg without their foot catching the floor or slapping the ground once contact is made

Early intervention is crucial to avoid the development of poor walking habits. The goal of treatment is to improve a person's walking to as normal as possible, increase their ankle strength and range of motion and improve their balance. All this is achieved with electrical stimulation from the BIONESS Stimulator to the muscles that help with walking.
