Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Transplant Pharmacy Residency

Overview

The Department of Pharmacy at University Health System (UHS) in San Antonio, Texas, in collaboration with The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy and the University of the Incarnate Word Feik School of Pharmacy, is proud to offer an ASHP-Accredited Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Solid Organ Transplant Pharmacy Residency position for July 1 - June 30 of the upcoming residency year.  This residency is designed to provide a challenging training environment for individuals interested in developing clinical competency in the area of solid organ transplantation, with emphases on immunosuppression, transplant-related infectious diseases, and post-transplant complications.

As full-time employees of UHS, residents receive a competitive annual stipend of $47,000 plus excellent employee benefits.  Residents are also appointed as Clinical Instructors with The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy and University of the Incarnate Word Feik School of Pharmacy.

Purpose and Outcomes

Purpose

The purpose of the UHS PGY2 solid organ transplant pharmacy residency program is to prepare graduates for a specialty clinical pharmacy practice in solid organ transplantation and/or a clinical pharmacy faculty position.

Outcomes

Residents completing the UHS PGY2 solid organ transplant pharmacy residency will learn to manage and improve the medication-use process and serve as an authoritative resource on the optimal use of medications in solid organ transplant recipients. Residents will optimize transplant outcomes by promoting and/or providing evidence-based medication therapy as an integral member of the interdisciplinary transplant team in both acute and ambulatory care areas.  In addition, they will demonstrate leadership and practice management skills and complete a transplant research project.  Residents will also demonstrate excellence in the provision of training or educational activities about transplant-related medications for health care professionals and trainees.

 

PUBLIC NOTICE:

UNIVERSITY HEALTH SYSTEM ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE.

THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 4.12 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $2.00.
