The Outpatient Surgery Department is the primary admission point for most patients who are undergoing surgical procedures at University Hospital. This includes patients who are going home immediately following the procedure; patients who need to stay overnight for further observation; and those who may be admitted into the hospital for a more lengthy recovery period. Because we are committed to quality care, we maintain the highest professional practice standards. This provides an environment that promotes outstanding patient safety and comfort.

The expertise and dedication of our medical and nursing staff are reasons why the University Health System has one of the finest reputations in the country. You can be confident that all patients have access to the most advanced technology and the finest health care professionals. Our physicians are nationally recognized and specialized in many areas of surgery and treat patients from many diverse locations.

The outpatient surgery department has sixteen comfortable patient rooms and cubicles. A television is provided in all enclosed rooms. The area features a bright, comfortable waiting area for patients and families. The department encompasses pre and postoperative areas, operating rooms and the post anesthesia care unit (recovery room).
