Pediatric patients get ready for SPOOKTACULAR time
Annual Halloween parade to kick-off with plenty of “trick-or-treating”

BACKGROUND: Just because children are in the hospital doesn’t mean they can’t go trick-or- treating. Pediatric patients from the Janey Briscoe Children’s Center at University Hospital will be parading through administrative offices with their Halloween bags ready to be filled with goodies tomorrow afternoon.

The parade of costumed patients will walk or ride in wheelchairs and wagons to pick up their fun treats from employees. Every year the ChildLife department at University Hospital is makes sure to bring the fun in Halloween to them.

The Janey Briscoe Children’s Center at University Hospital cares for children from all over Bexar County and the 22-county trauma region. Many of these young patients have undergone complicated surgical procedures or are still coping after a devastating traumatic experience. In addition to making them well enough to go home, the ChildLife team tries to help create at least a few happy hospital memories.

WHO: University Hospital pediatric patients interact with staff members during hospital parade.
WHAT: Staff members will pass out goodies and smiles to pediatric patients.
WHEN: Friday, October 31, 2008
1:30 - 3 p.m.
WHERE: University Hospital
(Meet in Corporate Communications, first floor, main entrance)
