Former Spurs player Bruce Bowen is on a mission to educate the community on the importance of monitoring their health with the aims of reducing the city’s rising rates of diabetes, heart disease and diabetes. On Wednesday, he will join H-E-B and University Health System to challenge residents to take the first step toward knowing their risk health factors by participating in the free Good Living Health & Wellness Family Expo occurring on Saturday at the Convention Center.
Attendees will gain access to free health screenings to identify health concerns and risks that should be addressed immediately to see they enjoy good health. These include:
- Carotid artery tests
- Cholesterol/glucose screenings
- Diabetes risk factor assessment
- Heart disease risk factor assessment
- BMI checks
- Blood pressure checks
- Skin cancer screening

- Pulmonary function tests for asthma

- Women’s health services
