Clinic staff invites community to tour new center during Open House
BACKGROUND: Children with cancer now have a larger, more kid-friendly space when they come for treatment. The new outpatient oncology center at University Hospital features additional exam and infusion rooms, as well as a redesigned playroom.
“For over 30 years, our pediatric hematology and oncology faculty have provided the very best in comprehensive care, education and research for the children of South Texas,” said Dr. Chatchawin Assanasen, medical director of the South Texas Pediatric Blood and Cancer Center at University Hospital, and associate professor of pediatric hematology/oncology at UT Health Science Center San Antonio. “Pediatric cancer and blood diseases can have a devastating impact on affected families, requiring multiple services that must work together in order to succeed. That’s why this new clinic is so important. It will serve our children with the care they need.”
The community is invited to take part in an Open House of the new center to learn more about the depth of services provided to children diagnosed with cancer.
