The Neurosciences Center of Excellence at University Health System works in partnership with UT Health Science Center at San Antonio to ensure patients in need of neurology and neurosurgery services are receiving the highest level of care from top-ranked doctors.

Our team of neuroscience specialists uses the latest technology and treatments to diagnose and treat a variety of brain, skull, spine and nerve conditions. Each of our physicians are skilled in general neurosurgery and trained in a specific specialty. And thanks to our department's strong focus on research and education, our doctors remain well informed of the latest neuroscience advances, techniques, and technologies available for patients.

For adults and children

A higher level of neurosurgical care is available at University Hospital for both adults and children. Our inpatient units include the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit on the 10th floor (off of the D elevators) and the Janey Briscoe Children’s Center Pediatric Intensive Care Unit on the 9th floor (off the D elevators). Rooms in both of these units are spacious, private and include all of the latest technologies. The nurse-to-patient ratio is very low on these units, allowing patients to receive the highest level of care and attention.
