The "How I Stay Safe" Calendar Contest is an early prevention program that targets children 4 - 11 years of age by introducing and reinforcing safety messages, as well as encouraging school involvement in injury prevention.

The contest gives students the opportunity to draw safety messages that are important to children and their families. The program ends with an educational awards ceremony at each winner's school.

The contest is now open to all students—ages 4 - 11 years of age—who attend public, private, parochial, home schooled or are members of a youth group/Sunday school in Bexar County.

Entries are accepted between January 1 and February 28 of every year.
