Nurse Residency Program

The transition from training to professional nursing practice can sometimes be challenging. The Nurse Residency Program in partnership with Vizient is a one-year program for new graduates who are employed as staff nurses on clinical units and in ambulatory settings. The emphasis of this program is on critical-thinking skills, clinical decision making, leadership at bedside, patient safety and more.

Magnet Recommended

The Magnet Commission and the Institute of Medicine/Future of Nursing recommends BSN staff at the bedside. University Health vigorously supports this recommendation by hiring only BSN-prepared staff and providing tuition reimbursement and scholarships for existing staff to earn their BSN or MSN.

Nurses in Professional Practice

University Health System understands the importance of fully utilizing the knowledge and skills of nurses in professional practice. As a nurse at University Health, your unique talents, skills and knowledge are recognized and rewarded. A clinical “ladder” – or defined steps for advancement – are based on experience, education, certifications and other indicators of professional excellence.

Professional Development for Nurses

University Health System supports recommendations from the Institute of Medicine/Future of Nursing, and Magnet Commission for nurses to obtain a baccalaureate degree. Tuition reimbursement, scholarships and coaching/mentoring programs are just a few of the ways University helps nurses today become the best informed and trained nurses of tomorrow.

Nurses who are part of the float pool have flexible schedules, work in multiple locations, earn competitive wages and benefit from a great work environment. See if you’re qualified and apply.
