This unrestricted fund enables the Foundation to use your gift to respond to ever-changing community requirements and emergencies, including future needs that often can't be anticipate.

This fund allows the greatest flexibility to meet the most pressing demands of University Health System at any time such as funding our trauma missions, nursing scholarships and purchasing specialized medical equipment.

Blair Reeves Rehabilitation Fund

University Hospital's Reeves Rehabilitation Center has been one the region's leading providers of comprehensive rehabilitation services since 1994. Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and The Joint Commission, the Center honors the late San Antonio jurist Judge Blair Reeves and his lifelong determination to master the disabilities he sustained in World War II.

This fund provides needy patients with much needed prosthetics and/or orthotic shoes whether due to disease or trauma. This money is also used for special patient needs, equipment for Reeves Rehabilitation and the continuing education of staff members. Make an online donation to this fund.

Burned Children's Fund

The Burned Children's Fund was founded to ease the recovery process for pediatric burn patients and their families. Donations to this fund support San Antonio and South Texas' only pediatric trauma burn program in the Janey Briscoe Children's Center.

Funds raised from this program are used to purchase items not covered by insurance such as: scar management products, burn ointments and creams, therapeutic toys, transportation, food and shelter for families needing to return for ongoing treatment and rehabilitation for burn injuries, bicycles and sports equipment for muscle exercise and any other expenses directly related to the recovery of a child. Center for Caring Fund

The Center for Caring provides educational, physical and emotional support for nurses. Its focus is to create an atmosphere that fosters openness and imagination that will enhance professional behavior and growth. Through this program, nurses are provided tools to cope with the emotions associated with patient care.

This fund provides for the programming expenses related to spiritual, emotional and professional growth of the nursing staff. Make an online donation to this fund.

Emergency Center Fund

The Emergency Center at University Hospital is the largest ER in San Antonio treating an average of 70,000 patients each year. It is also home to the leading Level I Trauma Center for a 22-county region of South/ Central Texas. A full spectrum of emergency services including trauma, medical, OB-GYN, psychiatric and social services are available for patients of all ages.

This fund provides for the special needs of emergency room patients, equipment and renovation needs and for the continuing education of staff members. Make an online donation to this fund.

HIV/AIDS Fund

The FFACTS Clinic is an outpatient HIV Clinic of University Health System, available to all individuals with HIV/AIDS. Complete primary and specialized medical care, case management services, psychiatry, mental health/substance abuse counseling, nutritional services and medication assistance are available for HIV-infected individuals. The clinic provides comprehensive healthcare and collaborates with other agencies to make support services available.

Janey Briscoe Children's Center Fund

The Janey Briscoe Children's Center is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide comprehensive pediatric services, with a specific focus on caring for children suffering from traumatic injuries, receiving kidney and liver transplants and those requiring neurosurgery to repair craniofacial defects.

This fund is used for the special needs of pediatric patients, equipment and renovation needs, and for the continuing education of staff members. Make an online donation to this fund.

Child Life Fund

Child Life Specialists work hard to help our littlest patients understand what doctors and nurses must do to make them well and to ensure their stays are as kid-friendly as possible.

This fund is used to purchase the items needed to distract kids during procedures and provide educational materials and entertainment while they remain hospitalized. Make an online donation to this fund.

Project Bear Hug Fund

This fund was founded to provide pediatric patients (ages 1 - 8) undergoing surgery a friendly teddy bear during their stay at University Hospital's Janey Briscoe Children's Center to minimize the stress that hospitalization can bring to children.

This fund is used to purchase new teddy bears; about 1,200 teddy bears are ordered annually. Make an online donation to this fund.

Living Proof Fund

This fund was founded to honor our University Health System doctors, nurses and staff who are living proof of the commitment to excellence and dedication to saving lives in our community.

This fund will be used for special projects during the construction of the Capitol Improvement Program: Target 2012 and will be directed by the University Health System Employee Giving Committee. Make an online donation to this fund.

Neonatal ICU Fund

One of the largest and most respected neonatal units in the region, University Health System's Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has 32 intensive care beds and 24 intermediate care beds. Comprehensive and specialized intensive care is provided for seriously ill infants whether due to premature birth or other complications.

This fund provides for the special needs of NICU patients, equipment and renovation needs and for the education of staff members. Make an online donation to this fund.

Nursing Scholarship Fund

Nurses are the life blood of every hospital. Unfortunately, throughout the last five years there has been a serious decline in the number of registered nurses. Today, most experts agree that barring drastic and immediate action, the situation will become a critical problem in the next 10 - 15 years. This scholarship program is a long-term approach to providing a foundation for the future.

This fund provides scholarships for current employees to receive their nursing degree in exchange for a commitment of service to University Health System. Make an online donation to this fund.

Our Sons & Daughters Family Scholarship Fund

The "Our Sons & Daughters" Scholarship was founded as an addition to the employee benefits of University Health System staff.

This fund provides financial support in the form of a one-time scholarship to the dependent children of University Health System employees who are pursuing a post-secondary degree. Scholarship awards will vary based on available fund balance. Make an online donation to this fund.

Peveto Center for Pastoral Care Fund

Caring for the whole person - body, mind and spirit - has been the commitment and mission of University Health System for over 51 years. This non-denominational spiritual center was built for patients, families and medical staff to find peace, comfort, hope and healing during life's most difficult times.

Safety Seat Fund

Prevention is one of the primary components of our Level I Trauma Center and the focus of our Child Health and Safety Awareness department. This department conducts car seat inspections and installations, school and community interventions and parent and child education through University Health System's Baby University Program.

This department focuses on car seat inspections and installations; school and community education, and parent and child education. This fund provides child seats to the underserved population in Bexar County who are enrolled in Medicaid, Carelink and CHIP. Children who are admitted through our Emergency Center after a motor vehicle collision will go home in an appropriate car seat or booster seat. Make an online donation to this fund.

Texas Diabetes Institute Fund

The Texas Diabetes Institute (TDI) was established in 1993 with support from University Health System, the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and the Texas Diabetes Council. TDI is a 153,000 square-foot world-class complex addressing not just the disease but also the life and lifestyle of the patient, the family and the community.

Transplant Center Fund

The Transplant Center at University Hospital, in partnership with The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, has been a pioneering force in organ transplantation since its inception in 1985. All transplant patients benefit from a strong foundation in research, education, state-of-the-art facilities and surgical excellence.

Donations made to this fund make it possible for us to invest in the technology, resources, unit renovation and education of our staff members that make ongoing kidney, liver and lung transplants possible. Make an online donation to this fund.

Transplant Endowment Fund

This fund provides financial assistance to hundreds of University Health System transplant patients and their families who experience exceptional difficulties during the course of their treatment. These exceptional difficulties include situations in which money is needed to pay for gas, food, shelter, utilities, clothing, medications, transportation, etc. Make an online donation to this fund.
