A Su Salud is an injury prevention program of the University Health System that reaches approximately 1.5 million South Texas residents through weekly television news segments and community publications. A Su Salud reaches both Spanish and English speaking residents to help educate the community on important injury prevention topics ranging from life-threatening diseases to home safety.
The A Su Salud program is a community effort made up of:
- Volunteers
- Churches
- Clinics
- Schools
- Support Staff
- Nutrition Centers
- Local Businesses
- Media
Topics
Our main focus is injury prevention. Injury is the leading cause of death in the United States, and A Su Salud understands that a significant part of being healthy is staying safe. We have developed training programs and informational materials to communicate the importance of reducing the impact of injury in the community.
Volunteers
The heart of A Su Salud has always been the volunteer network. These trained and motivated individuals act as ambassadors for the program, distributing and promoting materials directly to their friends, family, and community members. Not only do the volunteers make positive changes in their own lives, but they encourage others to do so as well.
