Course Description and Target Audience
Type 2 Diabetes (T2DM): On Demand is a structured, self-directed, online learning activity designed for physicians, physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals on topics relevant to the prevention, clinical care and treatment of diabetes mellitus. This series compliments the mission of the Texas Diabetes Institute’s Continuing Education Program, which is to highlight innovative procedures and technologies by updating health professionals on the latest advances in the understand and treatment of diabetes.
Objectives
- Discuss the oral agents available to treat hyperglycemia in patients with Type 2 Diabetes
- Discuss medication available to treat Type 2 Diabetes
- Discuss cardiovascular effects of anti-hyperglycemic therapies
- Discuss the benefits of exercise
- Discuss the molecular effects of exercise
- Discuss how to develop an exercise prescription
- Understand the time of onset and progressive nature of Type 2 Diabetes
- Understand the treatment and prevention of beta cell failure in Type 2 Diabetes
- Understand the new advancements to reduce the progression of Type 2 Diabetes
Accreditation
Physicians (MD/DO) and Nurse Practitioners (NP)
