Patient Care Coordinator - Orthopedic/Surgical Unit

The Patient Care Coordinator demonstrates expert leadership skills in management of staff and coordination of patient care activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delegates duties/tasks in accordance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act
  • Performs managerial duties related to staff activities

Qualifications include:

  • BSN required
  • National certification (e.g. CCRN, RNC, CEN, CNOR, OCN, ANCC, CAN, CPAN, CFRN, etc.) in related field

Experienced Operating Room Registered Nurses

University Health System’s Operating Room "OR" serves patients of all ages during one of the most critical times of their stay at University Hospital. Each OR suite is staffed with one RN and one surgical technologist supported by an anesthesia resident, anesthesia faculty MD, staff MDs and surgical residents.

Responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrates competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the age-specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department.
  • Provides basic leadership skills for assigned patients, collaborates with other departments and begins process of proactive thinking when implementing the plan of care.

Qualifications include:

  • Nursing degree required; bachelor's degree highly preferred
  • Must have current license with the Texas Board of Nursing
  • Must have CPR/BLS card from the American Heart Association

Medical Assistants

LVNs perform nursing skills competently and provide for the comfort and personal needs of patients. We have inpatient opportunities in our pediatric department and outpatient opportunities in our ambulatory clinics throughout San Antonio.

Responsibilities include:

  • Triage patients according to department procedures
  • Administers medications and immunizations in accordance with policy
  • Assesses and thoroughly reports patient data, observations, symptoms, conditions and treatments

Qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma is required
  • Must be licensed through the state of Texas
  • Must have CPR/BLS card from the American Heart Association
