Hyperbaric/Wound Care

E-mail

Texas Diabetes Institute is dedicated to getting its patients onto the road of recovery. The Hyperbaric Medicine & Wound Care Center provides treatment for patients requiring hyperbaric oxygen treatment.

Hyperbaric oxygen medical treatment involves immersing the patient under increased atmospheric pressure and delivering 100 percent oxygen to their body.

Texas Diabetes Institute takes a team approach and works with the referring physician or surgeon to create the best treatment plan. Patients receive private chambers made of transparent materials that allow the critically ill to be monitored daily. During treatments, patients are able to use an intercom to speak to physicians, watch television or listen to music.

We provide a wide variety of services designed to thoroughly evaluate and treat the wound care patient. Investigations to uncover wound healing impediments include evaluation of the oxygen and perfusion, nutritional status, lipid abnormalities, autoimmune diseases, psycho-social issues, and rheumatologic disorders.

Advanced wound healing therapies employed at Texas Diabetes Institute include:

  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO)
  • Negative Pressure Wound Therapy formally designated as Wound Vacuum Assisted Closure
  • Allograft Tissue Therapies
  • Apligraf® placement
  • Dermagraft® placement
  • OaSiS™ therapy

Minor surgical interventions include:

  • Incision and drainage (I&D)
  • Jackson Pratt Drain placement
  • Delayed primary closures (DPC)
  • Partial and complete toenail removals
  • Complete or partial amputation of dry gangrenous digits
