The Board of Managers is the governing body of the Bexar County Hospital District, a political subdivision of the State of Texas, doing business as the University Health System.

The Board is composed of seven members who are appointed by the Bexar County Commissioners' Court. Each member serves for a term of two years. There is no limit on the number of terms a member may serve. Members generously give of their time and talent, as they serve in an unpaid capacity.

The Board is entrusted with the interpretation of the Health System's mission and stewardship of its resources. It is responsible for the overall governance and management of the Health System as described under the provisions of Chapter 281 of the Texas Health and Safety Code, and as delegated by the Commissioners' Court. It sets goals, plans and performance for the Health System and assures appropriate policies, procedures and systems are in place.
