University Health System is an academic medical center and serves as the principal partner of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. We help train over 2,500 healthcare professionals each year. We are owned by the people of Bexar County and governance is provided by the Bexar County Hospital District Board of Managers. The Bexar County Commissioners Court appoints our board members, sets the annual hospital district tax rate, and approves University Health System’s annual operating and capital budgets. I am honored to serve the people of Bexar County and lead the more than 5,000 dedicated professionals who carry out our mission. We are proud to be recognized as the best hospital in the San Antonio region by U.S. News & World Report, the only Magnet health organization in South Texas and one of the nation’s Most Wired Health Systems. We are even more proud to provide high quality care and excellent service to those who entrust us with their health and their lives. This is an exciting time at University Health System, as we are in the midst of the largest expansion project in our history. These new state-of-the-art facilities will define excellence in healthcare in Bexar County and South Texas for many decades to come.
